The system determines the types of items appear based on the character's level (cLvl). This will always include at least 1 ring and 1 amulet. The system rolls for which 14 items appear in the window. When you open a Gambling window, two things happen: You can reduce this price with gearing, which is mentioned later in this guide. Rings always cost 50,000 gold to gamble, and Amulets always cost 63,000 gold. As you go up in levels, gambling costs also go up for all items except Rings and Amulets. A normal Javelin costs 240 gold from a vendor an unidentified Javelin costs 982 gold to gamble at level 1. The cost to gamble an item is considerably higher than buying a normal or Magic-quality item from most vendors. The base item type is very important, particularly at higher levels when different base items can share similar icons. When you mouse over an item in the Gambling window, it will show you the cost and the base item type. This is very handy in case you are looking for something specific. You can click the Refresh button to generate another screen of different items. This can include even more rings and amulets.Īt the bottom of the screen is the amount of money you have to spend on gambling and a Refresh button. This includes 14 unidentified items: at least 1 Ring, 1 Amulet, and 12 other randomly-selected items that you can gamble for at your character level (cLvl). When you click on a gambling NPC, you will get a list of dialogue options, including "Gamble".

Gambling is just that: buying unidentified items from a gambling vendor for a high markup, hoping that you'll get an item that's worth even more. In every main town in every act on every difficulty level, there is one NPC with whom you can Gamble. To get the most out of Gambling, you need to understand how the system works. Because you can target the exact type of item you want to look for in Gambling, many players find the combination of a gold-finding character and Gambling a great way to find elusive items. At higher levels, it can be easier to build a character specifically for farming gold and then using that gold to gamble up Set and Unique items. Since you are guaranteed at least a Magic-quality item, and a 1 in 10 chance of a Rare, it's actually not a bad early way to equip low-level characters. Why gamble? It's actually one of the easier ways to acquire high-level pieces in game, if you have the gold to spare for it.
